Cundiff, who has coached Crown teams since 2007, is a student of the game. And his players have picked up his habits, learning from online training videos and following Cundiff's advice in realizing the link between taking better shots and making a higher percentage. Besides playing well this week in important regular season home school games versus New Faith (our tournament's #5 seeded JV team) and Macon, Cundiff is looking forward to playing three games in roughly 24 hours at the Southeast Sub Regional tournament in Augusta. "The stamina challenge of a multi-day, multi-game situation is not something we have faced this year," Cundiff explained. His Knights will face this task again in Lynchburg, VA, in March.
Crown benefits from a balanced offensive attack and a stingy defense. Coach Cundiff has high praise for the maturity and commitment of his players. "We have been very fortunate this year to have a team that has committed themselves to caring more about team than individual goals. We've been able to strike a great balance of ball control, shot selection and commitment to team defense," said Crown's leader.
At 16-0 with wins over the New Faith Titans, the North Atlanta Flight, and the Gwinnett Barons, Crown has earned the right to be called the tournament's "team to beat." But Cundiff is taking things one step at a time. After building towards success for several seasons, it will surprise no one if Crown is able to reach the team's lofty goals for post season success.
