Sub Regional Preview: GAIS Eagles Varsity

The NCHBC Southeast Regional tournament defending champion GAIS Eagles varsity boys team seems to have rounded into form entering this weekend's sub regional tournament in Augusta, GA. Early in the season, the Eagles logged significant wins over nationally ranked homeschool teams Tulsa NOAH (OK), New Faith Titans (GA), Lakeshore Thunder (WI), and Crown Knights (GA).  But only in mid January, when the Eagles defeated a historical rival, the Nashville Warriors, did GAIS begin to form an identity and truly bond as a team.

The Eagles benefit from good inside play, stingy defense, and athletic perimeter players.  Seniors Kyle Brown, Jonathan Pye, and Jordan Pye, and freshman TJ Massenburg are the returnees from last year's championship squad.  But Daquarius Johnson, Jaylan Robinson, Malik Welch, Sam Culbertson, Taylor Murdock and others have joined these veterans to form a solid team that enters this weekend's tournament as the top seed.  See this year's Eagles in the video above.
