Sub Regional Preview: New Faith JV

The Crown Knights and Tuscaloosa Warriors junior varsity coaches may be justified were they to dispute the potential Southeast Sub Regional early round match ups with the New Faith Titans.  Coach Brad Cundiff’s Knights, should they defeat New Faith in Monday in a late season meeting, could enter the tournament undefeated.  And Tuscaloosa has only lost one game this season.  But after reviewing film from New Faith’s December loss to our Eagles 1 middle school team, I am beginning to think the Titans are going to be a tough out for the tournament’s top JV teams.

New Faith benefits from good guard play and full court pressure defense.  Multiple players are able to break down defenders off the dribble and score in traffic.  Although I am second guessing the seeding of New Faith at #5 entering the tournament, I conclude that they have in fact been properly seeded, given the evidence from the season.  This team’s #5 standing highlights the depth and talent in the eight team junior varsity division.  Junior varsity teams will have no “easy outs” this weekend!
